X-Ray Equipment Campaign
CHATHAM, ON (Wednesday, November 16, 2011): The Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) and CKHA are pleased to jointly announce the launch of a new fundraising campaign to raise $250,000 in support of the purchase of new radiological (x-ray) equipment for CKHA’s Sydenham Campus.
The launch of this campaign is a part of the Foundation of CKHA’s directive to raise funds to support CKHA’s Highest Priority Needs. It also reaffirms CKHA’s commitment to the Sydenham Campus and the long-term care of the residents of Wallaceburg and its surrounding areas.
“We have indicated our commitment to the Emergency Department at the Sydenham Campus and this investment delivers on that commitment. It is an exciting and critical piece of equipment for the delivery of care at the Sydenham Campus and it will have a positive impact on patient care in this community for years to come,” says Sarah Padfield, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, CKHA.
The new x-ray equipment will replace equipment originally purchased and implemented in 1990. The equipment will be a dual detector camera system that will be a fully digital system that will set the standard for radiology equipment across CKHA.
The cost to bring the x-ray equipment to CKHA’s Sydenham Campus is valued at more than $500,000. Close to half the value of the new equipment has already been raised over the past few years through generous donations from the residents of Chatham-Kent, in support of CKHA’s Highest Priority Needs at the Sydenham Campus.
With $250,000 needed to complete this fundraising campaign, the Foundation of CKHA is looking for the continued support of the residents of Chatham-Kent to make this campaign a success by summer 2012, around the time that the new x-ray equipment will be installed at the Sydenham Campus.
“The residents of Chatham-Kent have always been very supportive of our fundraising efforts,” says Michele Grzebien, Executive Director, Foundation of CKHA. “Through the generous support of our donors, we have a solid base in which to launch this fundraising campaign and I am confident that we will be able to reach our fundraising goal to bring this much-needed equipment to CKHA’s Sydenham Campus.”
Looking ahead to the !magine Project, it is important to note that the final decision of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care with regards to !magine, expected in early 2012, will not impact the status of the new x-ray equipment at the Sydenham Campus. The equipment will remain at the Sydenham Campus and will be incorporated into the approved !magine Project Plan for the Sydenham Campus.
